Rose Pincushion Cactus (Mammillaria zeilmanniana). Sometimes called the “Desert Rose” this prolific bloomer originates from Mexico. The blooms can range in colour from white to reddish pink and this cactus can flower at any time of the year. It is drought tolerate and suitable for xeriscaping and growing in containers. It does have a tendancy to rot if overwatered. If the plant is kept dry in cold weather then it can survive temperatures as low as -6o C for short periods. Water regularly in summer and keep in a lightly shaded position.
