Red Spines or african milk cactus (Euphorbia atrispina)
Ref: euph1Description:
Red Spines or african milk cactus (Euphorbia atrispina). Although looking like a cactus this is in fact a succulent plant. Sometimes called the “African Milk Cactus” and originating from South Africa. It does well as a house plant but will thrive in full sun as long as it is introduced slowly to prevent scorching. It will not tolerate temperatures below around
8o C. It needs to be watered very little during cold spells and only if it shows signs of shrinkage. Care is needed when handling as apart from the spines, the milky sap that it produces is poisonous and will burn the skin.
