Radula of a garden slug. Coloured Scanning Electron Micrograph of the radula of the Garden Slug (Arion ater). The radula is a horny strip of tooth plates found in most molluscs. The plates are used to rasp food into smaller, digestible particles and are continuously renewed. Arion ater is found in moist areas in the UK, and may grow up to 15cm in length. Magnification: x600 at 5x7cm size.
