This flightless bird is found on the grassland plains of South America and is a South American cousin of the Emu and Ostrich. The rhea, which usually lives in flocks of between 20 and 30 individuals, mainly feeds on vegetation, but will also eat fruit, seeds, insects and small vertebrates. It can run at speeds up to 60 kilometres per hour.
