Griffon vulture (Gyps fulvus). This carrion-eating bird, found in the Mediterranean, Africa and Asia, feeds mainly on the carcasses of large mammals. Its two and a half metre wingspan allows it to soar over large distances searching for prey. Like many vultures, it has become an endangered species. There are several reasons for this including the reduction in livestock farming, posioning, shooting and electrocution from power line installations.
