Great peacock moth (Saturnia pyri). This is the largest moth native to Europe. It has a wingspan of up to 15 centimetres and very distinctive ringed eye spots on its wings. It feeds on apple, pear and other tree leaves and is considered an orchard pest. It has a very extensive range though is absent from the UK.
