Finger chillies are green and slim about the size of a finger hence the name. They have a fresh flavour with a bite to them. Capsicum chillies contain capsaicin, a lipophilic chemical that can produce a strong burning sensation in the mouth. Mammals usually do not like the taste but birds are attracted to the bright colours and being unaffected by the taste, benefit the plant by distributing the seeds.
