Desiccated gecko. Dead moorish gecko (Tarentola mauritanica). This species of gecko is found in Mediterranean countries. This specimen was found at an altitude of 1000 metres, where it died due to the cold nighttime temperature. The gecko has dried out rather than decomposed because of the low temperature and dry air at this altitude.
