Carpenter ants fighting (Camponotus cruentatus)
Ref: fight2Description:
Carpenter ants fighting (Camponotus cruentatus). These are two soldier ants from different colonies. Ants produce chemicals called pheromones which they use to identify each other and to communicate. These two began fighting over some prey that was laying nearby. The two combatants stayed together, mandibles locked, for over two hours.
