Barasingha Deer
Ref: deerDescription:
Barasingha deer (Cervus duvaucelii). This deer is native to India and Nepal. Its natural habitat is grassland near rivers though this has diminished due to drainage and development of floodplains. This, together with hunting, has caused populations of the deer to disappear from many parts of India. Because of this, the barasingha deer is a protected species under Indian law.
